Julie offers a range of wellbeing and fitness classes to suits all. I have benefited from her PT sessions, yoga and circuits over the past few years. During lockdown, Julie has adapted her services and offer sessions via zoom. Julie is a highly motivated individual who makes exercise fun. Her encouragement and easy manner made weekly PT sessions enjoyable! She works with you to set clear goals ensuring you get results. Her yoga sessions are also excellent if you want to increase your flexibility and relax.

Online Mindfulness Sessions

There’s no more an important time to ensure you are helping your employees manage their stress levels.  The changes from the pandemic in 2020 have changed many peoples working and personal lives dramatically.  Mindfulness is a simple tool to learn and practise daily to help you keep more focused in the here and now.  To not be ruminating over the past and to stop worrying about the future.  It is known to lower stress, improve your relationships, help people grown with empathy and also help you to recognise the importance of gratitude from simple things in life.

Sessions last around 30 minutes and can be carried out on ZOOM or TEAMS.  Employees will learn techniques to practice daily that help them to breathe better and relax the body and mind.

Current clients include South Lanarkshire Council, Citizens Advice Bureau and Neighbourhood Networks.

Online Stress Management Sessions

Julie offers a range of services for the individual and also for Workplaces.

If you are in need of support to help with stress, anxiety and depression contact Julie to discuss what would best help you start to lower stress in a natural way.  See also pages on CBT, Yoga, Mindfulness, Nutrition, Personal Training and Reiki.

Workplaces need to ensure they are lowering the risk of added stress at work through working demands, relationships, lack or support or low levels of control.

It is crucial that Managers and Employees understand their ‘stressors’ in life and how to manage and cope with these both at home and work.

Workplace sessions can take the following format:

1. Stress Management Training for Managers (full day session)

2. Stress Awareness sessions for Employees (2 hour session)

3. Relaxation or mindfulness sessions (30min – 1 hour session)

4. CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) on a 1-2-1 basis, referred by a Manager

5. Yoga sessions (30min – 1 hour)

Online Weight Management Sessions

We offer a range of approaches that will assist you in managing your weight. The ethos of Absolute Wellness is to really uncover what is causing you to either over-eat, under-eat or make the wrong food choices.

Understanding emotional eating or boredom eating can be fundamental in helping you to have a better hold on how your mental health is impacting on how you look after your body.

Services include:

1. Weekly weight management classes combined with mindfulness, over 6 weeks and 45 minutes duration – see more on ‘Weight Management and Mindfulness workshop’.

2. Bespoke 7 day nutrition plans that are centred around your lifestyle, goals and nutrition preferences.

3. Personal Training – either online or 1-2-1 in person.

My mum and I two 2 hour workshops with Julie. The first one focused on nutrition, weight management and yoga nidra, the next one focused on yoga and CBT for weight management for me and anxiety for my mum. I cannot tell you the difference I felt personally after the first workshop. I have 3 young children, one of them is on the spectrum and for the past year I have had a constant battle with my weight and I have felt like I have no control of how much I was eating.

I felt Julie waved a magic wand and something just clicked. I did not dive into a super strict eating plan even though Julie's plan isn't actually too strick at all. I haven't restricted myself I have simply changed my eating habits and introduced exercise into my life. I have lost just over half a stone in 3-4 weeks without doing anything dramatic. It's not all about weight loss, I fell so much healthier/fitter and much more positive and happy. I don't feel as stressed and feel for the first time in a long time that I have control over my eating and stress levels.

I would highly recommend contacting Julie and seeing her different services which could help you. I look forward to more sessions. I could honestly write so much more, I can't thank Julie enough.

Online Circuit Classes

Normally these are run outdoors at Drumpellier Country Park on Saturdays at 8.30 am-9.30 am.  A great fun session, even online, with a fantastic group of mixed level people.  These are now run on ZOOM at 8.30-9.15am.  An all-over fitness session, with or without weights and also suitable for a total beginner.

Testimonial - Rachael Meadows

I’ve been doing outdoor circuits with Julie for several years now and really enjoy it. Julie is very friendly and welcoming. The group is full of mixed abilities and Julie caters to all fitness levels, she really does know her stuff. It’s a great bunch of people and we have a good laugh and giggle as well as a great workout. With this crazy year, circuits have had to move to online classes but I’ve still enjoyed those. Julie has kept us motivated and, to be honest, it’s sometimes nice not worrying about the wet muddy conditions at the park! Come give circuits with Julie a try you won’t regret it.

Contact Julie to book sessions on ZOOM.

Online Personal Training

PT sessions are tailored to your fitness and wellness goals, no matter what level, age you are or any limitations you may have.  A health questionnaire is completed online prior to your first session and a questionnaire about your health and wellbeing goals.

Testimonial - Theresa Campbell

Julie has been my personal trainer for over 4 years. Throughout that time I have thrown many significant challenges her way with a range of health issues. I’ve not been a straightforward client yet with every blip Julie has managed to pull me through and help get me back to fitness. Over the years we’ve worked on Reiki, yoga and strength conditioning. The most important thing for me is that regardless of what state I’m in, physically or emotionally, Julie pitches it just right and sets achievable goals for each session. I feel very fortunate to have found a personal trainer who is so caring and knowledgeable and tuned into my personal needs. Making contact with Julie all that time ago has proved to be an inspired decision, on the part of my husband. My whole family are so grateful for the support she has given me just when I needed her.

Online CBT Sessions

When life becomes overwhelming, or with too many changes, heartache and loss, our minds and body start to suffer.  We may experience intense anxiety, depression, pain and also insomnia.  Recurring negative automatic thoughts can lead you down a spiralling set of outcomes that can affect your relationships, are self-limiting, destructive and affect how you see yourself.

CBT sessions normally are run over 6 weeks, each lasting an hour and involve you doing some ‘homework’ on yourself.  Each week we set goals and challenge your thoughts and behaviour to change any irrational or unhelpful core beliefs you may have picked up in your life experiences.

Testimonial - Kirsty Fox

I first met Julie at a yoga and stress workshop in early 2020 and decided to continue with her for one to one CBT sessions to help with anxiety and worry. Little did we know that the pandemic would hit a matter of weeks later and all our session would take place virtually! My journey with CBT came at just the right time with so much uncertainty in the world and as someone with health anxiety, learning to rationalise my fears and worry, so it didn't take over, with CBT techniques was such a help. I always felt so much more positive following my hour with Julie each week and the techniques you learn through CBT are really easy to keep going yourself in moments of anxious or stressful times.

Bet you’re looking forward to the kids going back to school?’ Oh yes, I ve been asked that a few times this last week. I’m overjoyed my 3 kids are going back to school tomorrow. After 7 weeks of kids wandering around the house like lost souls, needing constantly fed and moaning about every small request for help with housework, I can’t wait to get my working space back again. I mostly work from home now which has been a real bonus that I’ve not needed any childcare. But between each session I like to do a wee, lets say, ‘check-in’ with what they’re all up to! My nine year old son will default to the TV, usually as I’ve hidden the laptop after many hours of playing ‘roblox’ already…hiding places include the car boot, the bottom of his clothes drawer (he’d never look there) or in the ironing basket. Next son up, a teenager who would probably over-heat in his bedroom with the PS4 on all day then revert to ‘Friends’ on the TV or his mobile phone when told to get off the PS4. Teenage daughter. I tend to stay out her way most of the day. If she’s up before lunch-time it’s usually because there’s a trip to Irvine beach or a full day of tanning and preparing for a night out. I didn’t realise you had to have a bath and a shower to do all this properly. I now know what a ‘gaff’ is as there’s been a few, and the highs and lows of being in a teenage relationship! I’ve also had many ‘snaps’ taken of me, unsolicited videos of me telling her off and distributed to her full friends group and probably in my PJs too!! So it’s best to stay out that room even if she has stole half my clothes and make-up! So the day to day of trying to encourage my kids to be active and make the most of their holidays is sometimes a bittersweet request, leaving me with more work to do. My 9yr old is suddenly showing so much independence that he wants no help in doing new tasks and knows exactly the right way to do everything. No patience either, so waiting 10 mins for me to finish work was not on the cards when wanting to make lemon muffins. So I left him to it and he consequently didn’t set the weighing scales before measuring the flour and sugar (literally no sugar)...but they were still ‘delicious’ because he had made them all by himself! Another episode this week where he decides to wash the neighbours cars after seeing a few boys doing the same the day before. I see him leaving the house while I was doing an online session…with mop bucket in hand and a backward glance through the window at me. Then find the liquid soap away too… he was not a happy boy when I find him and explain how these things aren’t done on a rainy day or with liquid hand soap! Then the sound of a blender when trying to watch ‘Stranger Things’ with my other son. “What are you doing in there” I shout in desperation as he’s meant to be in bed and just downstairs getting a drink. I find he’s poured half a punnet of grapes into a half made up blender to make grape juice! Don’t get me wrong I’m grateful he’s being so hands on and getting on with things himself; and he has sorted out now that he needs to cover the bowl of tomato soup before heating it in the microwave. He does love his food. Finding large wrappers of chocolate and endless packets of skittles in his bin are as much a mystery to him as they are to me. Young kids lie. A lot. So when I’m constantly telling them to “get outside, it’s a beautiful day”, you can guess where that wee trip outdoors is leading to. So, if I’m remembered for nothing else these Summer holidays, I’m sure it will be my appeal to “Get outside and stop wasting your childhood!!” The reply of “when have I to come back home?” is usually “5pm or when you’re hungry!”. Then there’s those days you must have them home for an appointment or an evening club and they’ve gone AWOL. Hunting the streets, messaging the other Mums, but no-one knows where your child is. But then I did tell him to disappear till dinner-time! So if you’re a parent trying to fit in your full-time job, time to buy school uniforms, constantly replace the disappearing food in the cupboards, give endless handouts for the cinema and shopping trips, get their haircut and have enough energy to be calm and patient by bedtime, then I feel for you. But we have survived. Another school holiday. But on a positive this year I have also seen a lot of growth in my kids, and not just in the stretching way. I found my teenage boy ironing his T-shirts one early morning as he didn’t have any! He hadn’t asked me to do this and I had no idea he could iron. In fact his response to “do you know how to iron?” was “of course I know how to iron!” And he did a really great job too. They all make their own lunches and have done their chores every day (maybe not right away but they get done eventually). I’ve had cups of tea made for me in the evening. I’ve had lots of hugs and they really really do know my bedtime is 9pm now and to give me my space! So in trying to keep perspective, looking for the gratitude in every day (the small wins) and going to bed as early as I can so I can be bright and energised for my clients and kids has got me through it! Till next year…I can’t wait!

Client Testimonials

Thank you very much Julie. My daughter Sarah was very stressed about her exams. She wasn't sleeping well, very tense muscles especially her neck. She also had terrible headaches. Today with the help of reiki and yoga she feels de-stressed, relaxed, uplifted and pain free.

You really have worked wonders and today has also opened her mind. She wants to do more yoga and will certainly be back to see you for more reiki.

I would highly recommend this to anyone, but especially to your teens who are going through so much stress.

Leighann Armstrong

I regularly get a reiki session from Julie. With a pressurised job and young demanding family I find these sessions balance me mentally, physically and spiritually.

Things seem clearer, calmer and energy levels are higher. Aside from Julie's pleasant sense of calm, her ability to help others achieve more from life is very refreshing indeed.

Highly recommended - especially for all those guys out there who just plod along, things like Reiki really allow you to achieve more!

I started with Julie 4 months ago when I was at my heaviest and most unfit, having had a baby 4 months prior. As a result of her PT I'm now fitter than I've every been - having just completed a 10K! In terms of my weight, I'm also where i want to be having dropped 2 dress sizes.

As part of the PT sessions Julie will offer nutrition advice which is helpful. I also go to her Saturday morning circuits class which is fab and is for all levels.

I cannot recommend Julie enough

Gillian Ferguson

I first had PT sessions with Julie around 11 years ago, with her help my running improved and I got PBs over various distances.

She also helped me with my  nutrition and more importantly with my mindset towards food. I lost my excess weight and have kept it off.

I now attend zoom circuits classes which are challenging but are also adapted to suit everyone by Julie. Julie also introduced me to yoga which is now an important part of my life.

Julie is a lovely person and I can't recommend her enough.

Lesanne Cherry

Absolutely love Julie’s mindfulness course! Her voice is SO soothing. It’s important to take some time out of our busy schedules to focus on the present moment.

When we have that peace in our lives we can cope with whatever is thrown at us.

Thank you Julie for this - I look forward to Friday mornings so much

Elaine Taggart

A terrific service from Julie, always smiling and just a breath of fresh air. I previously trained with Julie, improving my personal best in 10k runs.

With lockdown I’ve joined her online yoga classes which have been a life saver.I feel calmer and breath easier and do a class nearly every day as she has a catalogue of on demand classes via Facebook.

With home working I had noticed some stiffness in my hips and shoulders which has disappeared with regular yoga practice.

Overall I’d recommend Absolute Wellness to anyone, just a great experience

It’s worth it for time in Julie’s company alone

Alison Barr

After a difficult few years which caused a lot of stress, resulting in me not looking after myself Julie has been amazing.

I’ve had several reiki sessions now and I feel more relaxed, balanced and energised. Julie is really welcoming and has a natural ability to ease anxiety and create calmness.

I’ve learned a lot from Julie about reiki and also self care.

I leave every session refreshed and it’s all thanks to Julie.

Highly recommend

3 months into my Yoga journey and what a difference I feel, mentally and physically.  I have always been a typical man at the gym 3/4times a week, trained and eat properly but I still felt something was missing.

I always wanted to try yoga but I think as a man, I kept telling myself not to. Wasn't I wrong. My partner was so supportive and pushed me to go and now I go every week.

The difference in myself that myself and partner notices really shows the yoga sessions are working. Sometimes I feel myself getting worked up and stressed at life. Once I get to my weekly session. I again feel like a new person. Not only Is the yoga helping my mind the stretches are also helping me with working out.

I highly recommend Julie to be your instructor, made me feel at ease every session, I now find myself coming home and doing yoga to relieve stress from a days work and when life gets a little manic.

James Scott

I was struggling with some depression and anxiety. While working with Julie we looked at some of my suppressed childhood events that I hadn't spoken about before. I had not realised this needed some attention.

Talking about this has made me move forward. Julie is really easy to talk to and non-judgmental. We practised some techniques like mindfulness and how to do a gratitude journal.

This helped me make sense of what I had going on and reflect on what was good in my life. I am very grateful to Julie for work we have done over the last few months.

I would highly recommend Julie to anyone looking for an understanding and compassionate therapist.

Corporate CBT Referral

I started attending Julie Simpson's 'YOGA' class at Forth Valley Larbert around March 2022. I cannot believe how my life has changed since attending Julie's classes.

My husband passed away in February last year and I was advised by the Maggies Center to attend the Yoga class which would help me relax, unwind and feel good - I didn't really have much hope for that! However from day one, Julie inspired me with her kind and caring nature.

Her expertise in breathing, relaxing and yoga postures are just perfect for me. Julie seems to have an 'aura' around her that you want to be like her, calmness, soft spoken and lovely. Even if you are having a bad day, Julie will talk to you and inspire you with her words. I think she is just awesome.

The ladies and gentlemen who also attend the class are also amazing. Each and everyone of them are going through different types of health issues but we have all become firm friends whereupon we laugh and cry together.

I now love YOGA and would recommend anyone to take it upon themselves to try a class of two and see the benefits.I feel I can breathe better, feel less stressed and can tackle anything.

I also feel much happier and calmer and I thank Julie for that.

Namaste

Maggies Forth Valley

Despite a successful career and happy relationship, I was left with the residue of fear and insecurity from previous issues in my life.

I had met Julie through her yoga classes and always found her to be calm, non judgmental and gentle. Cognitive behavioural therapy with Julie proved this to be the case. With a mixture of reflective discussion and homework tasks, we were able to navigate the causes of my issues and more importantly create straightforward and simple strategies for me to use when feeling unsure.

Within a few weeks I found myself feeling more positive, confident and happy in my day to day life. I am using the strategies regularly as a preemptive measure. Since then, a number of friends and colleagues have commented that I appear more confident and happy in all aspects of my life.

My favourite comment was from a life long friend who said I had rediscovered my authentic self.

I would recommend Julie without hesitation and have passed her details to a few people already.
