I have over 20 years experience in the health and fitness field and am very passionate about helping people get more from their lives, both physically and mentally!
My journey began when I worked as a part-time gym instructor (for 7 years) at Hamilton Water Palace, whilst working full-time in Environmental Health. I loved working with people and inspiring them to work towards their goals, so much so that I would have done the job for nothing!
I then became a Health Promotions Officer with GGNHS Board, focusing on improving the health of employees within Greater Glasgows' workplaces.
Being ambitious I did a Postgraduate Certificate in Safety and Risk Management, nothing much to do with fitness however a lot to do with Occupational Health. This took me down the path of working for a large corporate employer as an Occupational Health and Safety Trainer and building up my interest in Stress Management and Wellbeing. I really believe that we have a problem these days with our working culture of long hours and pressure at work and home, leading to all sorts of health problems. (heart attacks, strokes, cancers)
Over the last 12 years I have had 3 children, who are now 6, 10 and 12 years old. I have also achieved many fitness qualifications - the Diploma in Personal Training, Ante/post natal fitness and became a Yoga Teacher (200 hrs certified) I am now a level 2 Reiki teacher. Yoga is now much more recognised as a way to help with stress management and relaxation, particularly through learning about breathing techniques. The yoga postures will also benefit your body - building core strength, improving your posture and flexibility and reducing your risk of injuries.
I have been a keen runner for at least 22 years, completing many half marathons and 5 marathons and 10Ks. In 2014 I took the plunge and ventured into the world of triathlons. Marathons included Dublin, Edinburgh, Strathearn, Loch Ness and Stirling most recently.
